A set of mumbo sauce tees, inspired by the Kevin Durant Nike KD V’s, which were inspired by mumbo sauce? Get it? Yeah it’s confusing, so let me explain.
We have always wanted to design a set of mumbo sauce t-shirts, but could never find the time or the inspiration. Initially we considered created a shirt using our own logo, but that’s too easy.
Then it happened. Oklahoma City Thunder player Kevin Durant unveiled his mumbo sauce inspired Nike KD V Basketball shoes in mid December 2012. We even wrote a short post about it.
See, Kevin Durant was raised in a neighborhood I frequent, Seat Pleasant, Maryland (sometimes referred to as Capitol Heights, MD). It’s a small city in PG County Maryland, which borders the northeast border of Washington DC. I even mentioned this area in my article for the Washington Post. One of my favorite all time places to get chicken wings and mumbo sauce is at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr Highway and Eastern Avenue, Jerry’s Carryout.
Kevin used his love of DC’s famous wing sauce to design his latest shoe with Nike. Which in turn inspired us to create these mumbo sauce tees.
The crimson color of mumbo sauce was used to match the colorway and the dripping effect signifies how DC area locals love to put this signature condiment on everything.
The tees will be available in three colors – grey, black and white. The black and white are slim fit 100% cotton tees and the grey is a tri-blend and super soft!
