Apparently mumbo sauce can inspire fashion, according to Kevin Durant who plays for the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant hails from Seat Pleasant, MD, which borders NE Washington, DC. From the Washington Post:
Kevin Durant’s new DMV-inspired sneaker, the Nike KD V, hits stores this month. The shoe’s catchiest color scheme — described as “bright crimson” — will be in stores this coming Saturday.
And that color apparently has the best inspiration of all time.
“Inspired by the popular DC Mumbo sauce, this season’s debut special edition colorway of the KD V sports a full bright crimson upper,” Sole Collector wrote.
The shoe “pays tribute to the greater Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia area, with the bright crimson splashed across the upper-an apparent tribute to favorite condiment of the area mambo sauce,” Sneaker News wrote.
“My fav color of the KDV’s are the DC/Seat Pleasant Mumbo sauce joints,” Durant himself wrote on Twitter last month.
