As we were completing the finishing touches on the new website we decided to do a little mini makeover for the Capital City Mumbo Sauce label. After consideration we decided to take a different route with the design. In an effort to keep the history of the sauce alive we took a bit of inspiration from where it all started – as a part of the Washington DC subculture.
The new label design takes on the look and feel of old school go go posters. Years ago, before the age of digital printing, these letterpress posters could be seen filling up the sides of buildings, bus stops and local shops informing DC residents of the next concert or band that was performing in town.
The bright colors and large easy to read text ensured these works of art could be seen from miles away. These types of posters are rarely used today, which is why we decided to bring them back to life through our label. (photo source)

So what do you think of the design?

Very smart branding, best of luck with this brand!
Thanks so much!
Hello, I just saw you on the news and eventhough I do not know you, I am proud of you. The fact that you took a true DC staple, and made it availble to everyone is amazing. You have truly inspired me as a Culinary Arts Student, an up and coming chef, and owner of a small catering business. Trust me…I will be in touch!
As far as the design looooove it! Especially since I literally grew up with Go-Go in my home. My dad is Big Tony of Trouble Funk…and he loves Mambo Sauce! I’m definetly going to put him on to your website.
Thanks for reppin the city!!!
